The Archbishop of Umuahia Archdiocese and former Secretary of Conference, Methodist Church Nigeria, His Grace, The Most Revd Dr. Chibuzo Raphael Opoko (TFSG, DOB, JP), has extended a heartfelt congratulatory message to Sir Ekemini Victor Etefia, KJW, on his emergence as the National President of the Council of Knights, Methodist Church Nigeria.

Sir Ekemini, who currently serves as Special Adviser to the Governor on Petroleum Matters Akwa-Ibom State, and Lay President of Ikono Diocese, was elected during the just-concluded Conference of Methodist Knights held at Immanuel Methodist Cathedral, Itiam Eto, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

A Message of Commendation and Encouragement

In his congratulatory message released to the Methodist Media, Archbishop Opoko rejoiced with Sir Ekemini, describing his election as “a divine call to higher service in the vineyard of Christ.”

“Your emergence as National President is not just a recognition of your commitment and stewardship, but a testimony that when a man serves faithfully, God elevates him in due season,” the Archbishop wrote.

He extolled Sir Ekemini’s steadfast devotion to the church, his unflinching loyalty to the Methodist tradition, and his exemplary leadership both in government and in the faith community.

“Sir Ekemini Victor Etefia has demonstrated what it means to be a Knight in shining faith — disciplined, humble, and devoted to the cause of Christ. His passion for the growth of Methodism and his record of service to humanity continue to inspire confidence among the faithful,” Archbishop Opoko noted.

A Charge to Lead with Grace and Wisdom

Archbishop Opoko urged the new National President to see his role not merely as an honour, but as a sacred trust.

“The Church expects you to be a light among lights — to lead with grace, uphold truth with courage, and strengthen the bonds of unity among all Methodist Knights across Nigeria and beyond,” he advised.

He further encouraged him to work closely with the Conference leadership, the Prelate, and diocesan lay leaders to ensure that the Council of Knights remains a pillar of faith, discipline, and moral integrity within the Methodist Church Nigeria.

A Celebration of Divine Grace — “Worthy Is the Lamb!”

The Archbishop concluded his message with a tone of worship and thanksgiving, declaring:

“Worthy is the Lamb! To God alone be all glory for this great victory. We pray that the Lord will endue you, Sir Ekemini, with wisdom, strength, and spiritual fortitude to fulfill this noble assignment. May your leadership bring renewal, unity, and greater exploits for the Kingdom of God.”

The election of Sir Ekemini Victor Etefia, KJW, marks another chapter in the growing legacy of Methodist leadership in Nigeria — one anchored in faith, character, and service to God and humanity.
