Abia Welcomes President Tinubu for Historic Road Commissioning in Aba | Methodist Church Joins Celebration.

Umuahia, Abia State – Abia State is set to witness a defining moment on Friday, 3rd October 2025, as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, arrives in the commercial city of Aba to commission a number of strategic road projects completed under the transformational leadership of Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.
This historic visit is more than an infrastructure celebration—it is a testament to the renewed partnership between the Federal Government and Abia State, symbolizing growth, progress, and a shared vision for sustainable development.
Roads to Be Commissioned
- Port Harcourt Road (dual carriageway of 3 lanes each with modern drainage)
- Ohanku Road
- Ndoki Road
- Ajiwe Street
- Umuatako Road
- Chief Nkoro Street and Spurs, Abayi, Aba
- Gabriel Nwosu Street
Each of these roads has been fully equipped with solar-powered floodlights, establishing a new standard in Abia’s infrastructure design while reflecting Governor Otti’s vision for modernization, sustainability, and safety.
Civic Reception in Honour of the President
A state-wide Civic Reception for President Tinubu will take place at the Aba Township Stadium at 10:00 a.m. prompt, where dignitaries, government officials, traditional rulers, and the people of Abia will converge to celebrate this milestone.

The Methodist Church Nigeria, Archdioceses of Umuahia and Aba, under the visionary leadership of His Grace, The Most Rev. (Dr.) Chibuzo Raphael Opoko, TFSG, DOB, JP, and His Grace, The Most Rev. Dr. Godfrey A. Agupusi, MFR, has warmly welcomed President Tinubu’s visit.
The Church expresses profound appreciation to the President for honouring Abia State with his presence, while commending Governor Alex Otti for his bold strides in repositioning Aba as a true economic hub of the South East and beyond.
“We therefore call on all Methodist faithful—ministers, laity, youth groups, women, and the entire Christian community—to turn out in large numbers. Let us join hands with the Governor and people of Abia State to accord Mr. President a befitting reception that reflects the warmth, spirit, and hospitality of Abia,” the Church declared.
