Never Give Up: The Game Is Not Over Until It’s Over
By Onyemaechi Charles Uruakpa | Methodist Church Nigeria – Diocese of Owerri
Once again, we rise to celebrate the unbreakable spirit of Nigeria’s women—our own Super Falcons—as they soar high once more as 10-time champions of African women’s football!
Their recent match against Morocco was more than a football game—it was a divine metaphor for life, faith, and the Christian journey.
⚽ From Defeat to Victory: What the Comeback Taught Us
Morocco led Nigeria 2-0 at halftime. It looked like defeat was certain. But the Super Falcons did not give up. They believed. They battled. And they emerged victorious, turning the scoreboard into a miraculous 3-2 win.
This comeback victory teaches us powerful life and spiritual lessons:
- A rough start doesn't define the end: Like the Falcons, you may start off struggling—but with faith, the end can be victorious.
- Resilience is the real game-changer: The team regrouped and refocused. In life, bouncing back from setbacks is what defines success.
- Faith moves mountains: Believing in yourself and God's purpose even when odds seem stacked against you makes all the difference.
- God's grace is sufficient: Just as the Falcons turned things around in the second half, your second chapter might be your breakthrough.
🙏 A Message to Our Faithful in Methodist Church Nigeria
To the youth, women, and faithful of the Diocese of Owerri—take heart from this! Do not let the scoreline of your current circumstance determine your joy. Even when life places you behind, with prayer, strategy, and perseverance, you can still claim your crown.
As the scriptures remind us in Galatians 6:9: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
