🌟 Owerri Methodist Bishop Inspires Children to Rise in All Aspects of Life.

In a deeply pastoral message delivered during the 2025 Diocesan Children’s Anniversary celebration, the Methodist Bishop of Owerri Diocese, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey U. Kanu, delivered a compelling charge to the younger generation. His message echoed the powerful theme of this year’s Thanksgiving Service:

“He Will Rise Again” – John 11:23

Speaking through the official Sunday School booklet, Bishop Kanu titled his address:

“The Owerri Diocesan Sunday School Will Rise Again”,
emphasizing that the future of the church depends on the spiritual, intellectual, and moral rise of its children.

“To rise again as children covers four different folds: mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually,” he declared.

🧠 MENTAL & PHYSICAL GROWTH EMPHASIZED

Bishop Kanu urged children to rise mentally by learning attentively in Sunday School, engaging with Bible teachings, practicing good speech, and developing curiosity.

Physically, he emphasized healthy habits like eating nutritious food, playing regularly, staying active, and avoiding laziness.

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,” he reminded.

🫱 RISING SOCIALLY THROUGH CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

The Bishop encouraged children to grow socially by forming friendships rooted in love and godly behavior. He emphasized the importance of attending Bible classes, Boys’ Brigade meetings, and fellowshipping with others.

“Where two or three are gathered in His name, God is there,” he said, highlighting the power of unity and Christian community.

🙏 SPIRITUAL GROWTH IS ESSENTIAL

Above all, Bishop Kanu emphasized the need for spiritual growth. He called on children to pray regularly, just as Jesus did during His youth.

“Avoid sin. Hate evil. Be holy,” he admonished.
“God hates unclean things. Avoid evil friends.”

He urged children to live lives that honor God by making wise decisions and walking in holiness.

🕊️ A MESSAGE FOR THE FUTURE CHURCH

As the Owerri Diocese marks another milestone in nurturing young believers, the Bishop’s message comes as a prophetic call. It reminds us that revival begins with a rising generation—empowered in mind, body, heart, and spirit.

“The church of tomorrow is being shaped in the hearts of children today.”

Congratulations to the Children’s Ministry!

Congratulations to all the children of the Diocese of Owerri on your 2025 Anniversary Celebration. May you continue to rise in every area of life!
